Brazilian auto sales this year are expected decline 40 percent, year-on-year, to 1.67 million units, automotive industry association, Anfavea, forecasted this week. The estimate includes cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses.

Anfavea’s president, Luiz Carlos Moraes, labeled the decline as “shocking.” Anfevea had previously estimated Brazilian auto sales to reach 3.05 million units, before Covid-19.

Anfavea said Brazilian auto production in May fell 84.4 percent, year-on-year, to 43,080 units.
