Brazilian crude steel output increases 11.2 percent in November

Brazilian crude steel output in November rose 11.2 percent, year-over-year, to 3 million mt, said local steel association, IABr.

Domestic steel sales in November grew 12.9 percent, year-over-year, to 1.8 million mt. Apparent steel consumption in November was 2 million mt, 16.1 percent up, year-over-year.

Brazilian steel exports in November reached 514,000 mt in volume, 52.8 percent down, year-over-year, and $299 million in value, 45.1 percent down, year-over-year. Steel imports in November totaled 199,000 mt in volume, 55.3 percent up, year-over-year, and $195 million in value, 24.6 percent up, year-over-year.

As for the accumulated period of January to November, Brazilian crude steel production totaled 28.1 million mt, 6.7 percent down, year-over-year.

Domestic steel sales in the Jan-Nov period slightly rose 0.3 percent, year-over-year, to 17.4 million mt. Apparent steel consumption in Jan-Nov was 19.2 million mt, 1.2 percent down, year-over-year.

Steel exports in Jan-Nov totaled 10 million mt in volume, 15.4 percent down, year-over-year, and $4.9 billion in value, and 27.6 percent down, year-over-year. Steel imports in the 11-month period reached 1.8 million mt in volume, 18.4 percent down, year-over-year, and $1.9 billion in value, 16.3 percent down, year-over-year.
