Further strikes at Tata Steel’s Dutch plant

Posted on by admin

Dutch trade union FNV has said that workers at Tata Steel’s IJmuiden plant in the Netherlands are on strike again. The night shift workers at Tata Steel Packaging (TSP), which is one of the largest tin can producers in Europe, halted entire production for at least eight hours on the evening of Sunday, June 14.

Tata Steel has not responded to the strikes yet. While the FNV officials say a permanent strike is an option, striking in one department could have consequences for others, as several chains in the company depend on each other for production, SteelOrbis understands.

As SteelOrbis reported earlier, FNV said that workers went on strike on June 10 in order to protest against planned job cuts, demanding job security and the extension of employee benefits.
