Mexican industrial supplier Grupo Gilbert Estructuras en Acero won a contract to supply 49,000 mt of steel to state-run Mexico City Airport Group, also known as GACM, according to a media report from El Economista.
SteelOrbis has learned a number of smaller companies, including Aptiver and Comercializadora de Metales la Perla also presented bids. Gerdau Corsa was listed but did not present an offer.
The media report said other companies are questioning Grupo Gilbert’s ability to provide the service, as it did not meet certain requirements of the contract.
Grupo Gilbert is expected to sign the contract, but the other contenders may also present an appeal to the existing bid, which was awarded to Grupo Gilbert.
