India steelmaker Tata Steel said that it is currently running at 50 percent of its capacity. The company’s CEO and managing director TV Narendran said that the company was forced to run the plant at half of it capacity because of the ongoing lockdown in the country, adding that this has resulted in an improvement in the steelmaker’s efficiency.

The current demand is mostly coming from healthcare, furniture, oil and gas sectors, SteelOrbis understands. Demand from automobile and construction, which account for almost 70 percent of the total steel demand, on the other hand, is very low.
