Turkey’s pig iron imports down 32.3 percent in February

In February this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 87,301 mt, down 32.3 percent year on year and decreasing by 19.4 percent compared to January, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey’s pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 37.3 percent year on year to $29.02 million, down by 17.2 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the January-February period of this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 195,601 metric tons, down 12 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $64.07 million, decreasing by 21.8 percent compared to the same period of 2019.

In the January-February period of this year, Turkey imported 115,718 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, down 29.08 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey’s pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 47,792 mt, up 14.38 percent year on year.
