US tool steel imports down 19.6 percent in February

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tool steel totaled 6,875 mt in February 2020, down 19.6 percent from January and down 24.4 percent from February 2019 levels. By value, tool steel imports totaled $18.2 million in February 2020, compared to $22.8 million in the previous month and $31.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most tool steel from Japan in February, with 2,076 mt, compared to 3,539 mt in January and 2,548 mt in February 2019. There were no other significant sources (1,000 mt or more) for US tool steel imports in February.
