Venezuela’s Sidor repairs rolling mill

Posted on by admin

Venezuelan state-run steelmaker Sidor said on Friday it is repairing a rolling mill to resume billet output. Sidor has not produced steel in all of 2019 and early 2020, due to an ongoing financial crisis and lack of raw materials.

Sidor did not provide an estimate for the equipment to resume operations, but said it would produce 5,000 mt of billets, presumably per month, to supply the domestic market.

Repair works have been going on for six months, Sidor said. The maintenance works cover the company’s billet reheating furnace, as part of a Venezuelan plan to resume industrial output at its state-run companies.
