Experts at Stahls GROUP (part of Mechel Group, MOEX: IGST) completed the overhaul of the plant’s bar and wire rolling mill 250. The works were completed as scheduled. The mill is a key facility for the plant and responsible for approximately 45% of the plant’s output of finished rolls.
During the repairs, the plant’s specialists refined the structure of a mechanism impacting the operations consistency of the mill for thin strip rolls. The mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems were also checked and revamped. Special attention was paid to the walking-beam furnace and equipment that has a direct impact on the quality of finished rolls. The overhaul will enable the mill to operate accident-free until the next planned repairs and meet all assigned production objectives.
In 2017, the mill 250 produced 222,000 tonnes of single, improved and high-precision rolls from constructional, stainless, bearing, instrumental and high-speed steels, which is 10% more than in 2016.
The mill 250’s equipment enables the plant to produce long rolls of 16-32 mm in diameter with set mechanical characteristics without after treatment. Its products are supplied to facilities in the automobile, aviation, engineering and defense industries.
